How a Body Transformation Block Works

Twelve weeks of coached training and nutrition across four private central London clubs, with a baseline taken at the start and the same measurements repeated at the end.

Why a block, and why twelve weeks

Open-ended training drifts. A block has edges: a date it starts, a date it ends, a target agreed in advance and a set of measurements it will be judged against. Twelve weeks is the usual length because it is long enough for muscle to be added and fat to come off in a way that shows in a photograph, and short enough that you can hold the plan without your life reorganising itself around it. What changes inside those twelve weeks depends almost entirely on where you start, which is why the first session is spent establishing that rather than training hard for its own sake.

Training and eating, set up together

Most twelve-week attempts fail because one half was handled and the other was improvised. Training here is 1-2-1 and programmed in advance, usually two to three sessions a week in a 60 or 90-minute format, with compound strength work anchoring every session. Nutrition is set at the same time: an energy target against your own maintenance level and a daily protein floor, built into meals from food you already eat. Both are corrected on a fixed cadence against what your measurements actually did, rather than against how the last fortnight felt.

What gets measured

Body measurements taken the same way each time, working strength on the main lifts, and photographs taken in the same light and the same clothing. Scale weight is recorded and largely set aside, because during a block where muscle is being added and fat lost it is the least informative number available. Every practical way of estimating body fat carries an error margin, so the honest use of any of them is to watch the trend across consistent readings. No body composition scanning is offered here and none is implied.

Four clubs, one programme

Sessions run at UNTIL Soho on Charing Cross Road, UNTIL Liverpool Street on Bishopsgate, UNTIL Marylebone on Orchard Street, and UNTIL Canary Wharf on South Colonnade. Each is a private members club with a full strength floor: racks, barbells, plate-loaded machines and dumbbells. Twelve weeks is long enough that where you spend your week will change at some point, and being able to move between four central London sites is what stops a block lapsing when it does. The clubs open at 06:00 on weekdays.

Who coaches it

Twenty-two coaches across the four clubs list body transformation as a specialism, and you are matched to one on the basis of your goal, your starting point and which club fits your week. Coaches are independent practitioners working from these clubs rather than employees of this site, and their rates are their own, which is why prices are confirmed on enquiry rather than published here. No coach is named on this site and no biography is published, because consent to publish one has not been sought.

What this is not

This is non-clinical coaching. It does not diagnose or treat anything, it is not dietetics, and it does not manage medical conditions through diet or exercise. Where a clinical need is in play, from a diagnosed condition to a history of disordered eating, the right next step is your GP or a registered dietitian, and you will be told that rather than coached around it. No result is guaranteed, no timeframe is promised, and no weight or body-fat figure is offered in advance of an assessment.
